This article presents the themes of a scientific conference organised by the Faculty of History of Vilnius University and the Institute of Art Studies of the Vilnius Academy of Arts. The main topic was "The Benedictine Tradition in Lithuania 1405-2005". The symposium was held on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the foundation of the oldest Benedictine abbey in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania - in Old Trakai.
