The end of the First World War saw a crisis of religiosity in many Catholic communities in Poland. At the same time, the regained independence provided more opportunities to take corrective action than during the period of partitions. This article discusses the program for the renewal of religious life in the diocese of Kielce based on the provisions of the diocesan synod of 1927. All these elements were part of the traditional vision of the institutional Church, proven methods and forms of pastoral influence typical of the Catholicism of that period, and not only in Poland. The synod placed the main emphasis on intensifying the activities of the clergy who were encouraged to implement traditional goals and forms of pastoral influence.
