Rev. Franciszek Stopa was born on 27 October 1917 in Zaczernie. He was a graduate of the Second Gymnasium in Rzeszów. His formation for the priesthood took place at the Seminary in Przemyśl, which was transferred to Brzozów. He was ordained a priest on 24 October 1943 in Stara Wieś. As a neopresbyter, he was sent to Bóbrka in 1944, where he later served as an administrator until 1945. Subsequently, he was a curate assistant in Jedlicze. In 1948 he was appointed administrator in Wołkowyja and ekspozyt in Polańczyk. He organised pastoral ministry in the Bieszczady on the basis of the former structures of the Greek Catholic Church. He saved the miraculously famous picture of Our Lady of Łopienka, giving rise to the sanctuary of Our Lady of Beautiful Love in Polańczyk. In 1970 the church authorities entrusted him with the duties of ekspozyt-administrator in Grabownica. He retired in 1982 and stayed in Grabownica and Zaczernie and then at the Holy Cross Parish in Rzeszów. He died on 21 March 1993 and was buried in Zaczernie.
