Concern for the Rule of Law: An Analysis of the Venice Commission’s Impact on Judicial Reform in the Context of Contemporary Legal Challenges

Abstract

This article analyses the influence of the Venice Commission on judicial reforms in selected Council of Europe member states. The Commission acts as an advisory and consultative body on constitutional matters and plays an important role in shaping the legal
policies of member states. An analysis of cases of the Venice Commission’s intervention in judicial reform processes allows for the identification of key areas in which its actions have had a decisive impact. As countries strive to adapt their legal systems to changing
socio-political realities, the Venice Commission is becoming one of the pillars of maintaining the rule of law on the European continent.
