Constitutional accountability, different from political and criminal accountabilities, reflects the tension between two principles – government based on the democratically created majority and the rule of law. In Poland, there have been only two instances of using the mechanism of constitutional accountability against former president Wojciech Jaruzelski, in both cases the accusations were rejected by the Parliament. There is, however, an open question of the accountability of president Andrzej Duda for some of his controversial decisions.
