The Catholic priesthood of Lubawa Land were involved firmly in the fight with germanization in Prussian sector of partitioned Poland. They joined actively in the struggle for the right to teach religion in the Polish language. They also supported the school strike in 1906-1907, published the appeal to their parishioners on 11th November 1906, where they had assented the right of Polish Catholics to learn religion in their mother tongue. For the delivering this appeal eight parish-priests from 11 parishes of Lubawa decanate were sentenced to prison for a month in Lubawa trial. This article introduces the circumstances of delivering the appeal, the course of the trial and the response of the catholic inhabitants of Lubawa decanate for these events.
