Abstract

The aim of the article is to present the activities of the section of the Polish Theological Society in Krakow in the years 1946-1999. It consisted of 496 members and operated on the basis of 21 sections, including: thematic - 12, field - 8 and one publishing section. He combined scientific work with publishing and the popularization of knowledge. The scope of its activities covered primarily the territory of the neighboring dioceses of southern Poland in the range from Katowice to Przemyśl. Operating in changing socio-political conditions, the society retained the identity defined by its founders in 1924. Its achievements often went beyond a strictly scientific profile, constituting a valuable part of contemporary Polish culture.
