Bishop Augustyn Łosiński, who headed the diocese for 27 years before World War I and during the difficult years of independent Poland, did not live to see the serious monograph that was proposed to be written shortly after his death. Łosiński, as a man and as a bishop, was a complex personality, largely unrecognized until now. His decisive attitude, which knew no compromise or concession, and his passionate patriotism, which he expressed on various occasions, caused not only sharp criticism from many sides, but also various types of repression, persecution and even the risk of removing the bishop from the Kielce Ordinariate. Serious work is necessary on the activities of the Bishop of Kielce, especially in the post-war period, when he became known as a shepherd completely devoted to Catholic Action. The bishop's views on many issues of church and social life have not been fully researched.
