Abstract

Archbishop's homily Tadeusz Gocłowski, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the "Our Past" journal, describes the richness of the events that took place in the fall of 1946 in Krakow and their significance for later years. The Archbishop recalls that despite the difficulties, the nation was preparing spiritually to defend its identity, which accelerated numerous priestly ordinations and trips to Rome for studies. Thanks to the initiative of Cardinal Adam Sapieha, a journalistic community was established, and Kraków became a center of political resistance to communism. The homily emphasizes that the history of the Church is a synthesis of the actions of God and people, as well as their weaknesses and impulses for good. "Our Past" serves to discover the past that shapes the lives of contemporary generations. The publishing house's activities, especially in Krakow, had a positive impact on two generations, shaping them to live in freedom. The author prays for a blessing for the work that is still alive, and for its current creators to reveal to the nation those pages of history that encourage us to defend the values and fidelity to Christ and the Church.
