
rev. Józef Matusz was born on October 19, 1889 in Haczów. He was a graduate from the Gymnasium in Sanok. He prepared for the priesthood at the Seminary in Przemyśl. He was ordained on June 29, 1913. He worked as a vicar in Głogów (1913-1916), Radymno (1916-1918) and Przemyśl (1919-1920). From 1919 he worked as the secretary general of the Union of Polish Youth Associations. From 1920 he was a full-time employee. He carried out youth ministry in the Przemyśl diocese until the end of his life. In the meantime, he was a parish priest in Jawornik Polski for a short time (1923-1925). From 1927 he took care of the Union of Polish Male Youth Associations. In 1934 he became the secretary general of the Catholic Association of Young Men and the Catholic Association of Men. For many years he was also involved in the work of the nationwide Union of Polish Youth. He was a chaplain of the scouting movement. He was active in the social sphere. He worked for the benefit of popular education. He died on 23 January, 1937 in Przemyśl and was buried in Chyrów.
