According to the Ministry of Justice the current provisions on compulsory treatment of alcoholics do not fulfill their role properly because of the lack of effectiveness of the enforcement of judgements rendered by court. Undoubtedly one of the reasons for this is the lack of voluntary of the person concerned and the lack of results of the proceedings. It is therefore important to examine the existing procedures and regulations of the Act of 26 October 1982 on Upbringing in Sobriety and Counteracting Alcoholism, particularly the effectiveness of the procedure, the directions of changes, ant the need to maintain this procedure.
