This article is an attempt to show the cult of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen and Patroness of Hungary, in the context of the post-conciliar renewal of the Marian cult. The Hungarian Catholics have been venerating the Mother of Christ as their “Lady”. The titles of Our Lady of Hungary, Queen and Patroness of Hungary, even though they are used today, are not following the requirements of the Marian renewal after the II. Vatican Council II, especially regarding its anthropological, pneumatological and eschatological dimensions. A further and valid demand also arises, that the national characteristic of the cult shall not lead us away from either the persons of the Trinity or biblical–salvation-historical bases, or towards nationalising the Marian cult, but it shall always keep in sight that Our Lady of Hungary is also “Mother of All Nations”, who look upon every member of the Church as the “disciple, whom He loved”.
