The article attempts to reconstruct the activities of the Congregation of the Mission of the Kraków Province from 1865 to World War I. The author presents the activities of the Congregation of the Mission priests in three institutions - Kraków, Chełmno and Lviv, and systematizes them according to three criteria: 1. Educational work addressed to the clergy. 2. Pastoral functions. 3. Charitable and publishing activities. Another key to systematizing the study is the individual activity of provincial superiors who distinguished themselves with great merits. The author includes, among others, the latter: priest P. Soubielle, organizer of the Internum Seminary in Krakow in 1867, Fr. J. Kiedrowski (from 1890) and Fr. K. Słomiński (since 1906). The pastoral functions of the Missionaries resulted in folk missions in Galicia, then in Cieszyn Silesia, Upper Silesia and Bukowina in the 19th and 20th centuries. The author of the article presents the nature of the missions, their program, and lists the best spiritual guides. It focuses on permanent, popular clerical retreats that took place in Kleparz (Kraków County) for 30 years from 1882, in the form of religious and national pilgrimages. The pastoral functions of the Missionaries also included activities in Polish emigration, especially in Brazil and the United States, but also in England, Denmark and France, among others. among seasonal workers. In addition to teaching religion and general education (lectures on Polish history, literary conferences, Polish press), the assistance also included material assistance. As for pastoral functions in parishes, they focused on school and Sunday catechesis and on voluntary activities (agricultural committees, credit and savings banks). Charitable works were organized at Kleparz (in Krakow), very much appreciated by the Missionaries. The leader of this activity was Fr. K. Siemaszko, founder of an institution for poor and abandoned boys. As for the publishing activities of the Congregation, the author states that this activity deserves very detailed source analyzes because it has been underestimated so far. Priests from the Congregation of the Mission published magazines, including: "Annals of both Congregations of St. Vincent de Paul” and “Christian Mercy”, religious brochures and books, as well as popular liturgical literature. On the one hand, the author has reservations about the fragmentation of research to date, resulting from the lack of complete documentation, on the other hand, it indicates topics awaiting a professional and meticulous monograph.
