After the creation of the so-called The Kingdom of Poland and the introduction of a new political and administrative division in it, Pope Pius VII, with the bull "Ex imposita nobis" of 1818, established new boundaries of the diocese in this area. In place of the then liquidated Kielce diocese, a new one was created - with its seat in Sandomierz. Its second diocesan bishop, but also its actual organizer, was Adam Prosper Burzyński - a Reformed Franciscan. The author, researching the life and extensive activities of A. P. Burzyński, answers the question of how during his rule (1820-1830) in the Sandomierz diocese education and care were provided to poor patients in hospitals. The first two parts of the article concern statistical data, maintenance, organization and teaching in primary schools (state and parish) and religious high schools. The third part deals with the number, maintenance, opening and closing of hospitals for the poor. The tables at the end of the article present the geographical network of schools and hospitals and contain basic statistical data for these two types of facilities.
