Abstract

The right to a decent remuneration is one of the fundamental rights of every human being. This right may not be denied to clerics, including those accused of sexual abuses of minors. Ratio legis of such a state, apart from a number of theological and legal motives, should be noticed in the priest’s ministry itself, and even in his readiness to perform this service. Therefore, at every stage of disciplinary or penal proceedings, the accused cleric must be provided with dignified and just support.
