The article analyzes the Marian identity of the Church of Częstochowa in the context of the Marian dimension of the universal Church, with particular emphasis on the role of Jasna Góra as the spiritual center of the nation and the diocese.
The study demonstrates that Marian devotion is not merely an element of tradition or worship, but a constitutive feature of the Church’s ecclesial identity and a spiritual charism that makes a significant contribution to the richness of the universal Church.
The first part presents the theological foundations of the Marian dimension of the Church in the light of the documents of the Second Vatican Council and the teachings of the popes, especially St. John Paul II. The subsequent section discusses the
development of Marian spirituality in the Church of Częstochowa as reflected in the teaching of successive bishops–from Bishop Teodor Kubina to Archbishop Wacław Depo. Special attention is given to the Marian sanctuaries of the archdiocese, which
serve as spaces of evangelization, prayer, and renewal of faith, embodying the Christocentric and ecclesial nature of Marian devotion. In the light of the decrees of the Second Synod of the Diocese of Częstochowa, Marian spirituality emerges as a path
of integral formation of the faithful and a sign of hope and unity for the local Church. The article presents the Church of Częstochowa as a community that creatively develops its Marian tradition in fidelity to the teaching of the universal Church, thus constituting a model of contemporary Marian devotion within the local Church.
