
This article examines the systems of testing proficiency in Russian as a foreign language in Spain, Europe, the USA and Russia, their specific and common features. A general description of different levels is offered, based on an analysis of the ratio of different testing systems. A single unified standard is defined, without which the homologation of certificates and student mobility are impossible at present. The system of testing proficiency in Russian as a foreign language in Spanish and Catalan educational institutions is described in detail. The author raises the question of choosing the optimal testing system for determining the level of proficiency in Russian by foreign students in Spain and Europe.
