In the consequence of social and economical transformations in the Polish Kingdom from the middle of 19th century the modern forms of the social life were developed. Simultaneously the Roman Catholic parishes occurred to decline as this development's main centers. The parishes limited their functions connected with the charity, the education and the culture, concentrating on the liturgical functions. The groups of the Catholics started to establish the associations functioning in the accordance with the Catholic social teaching. Its direction was determined then by the encyclicals o f the popes Pius IX, Leon XIII and Pius X.
