After the occupation of Częstochowa by the Prussians in 1793 and the convening of the Grodno Sejm for several days, the intention to move the painting of the Virgin Mary from Jasna Góra was, among other things, the subject of a dispute between the Polish side and the Prussian representative, MP Ludwik Buchholtz. The article deals with the issue of the intended transfer of the Częstochowa painting in 1793, based on the available literature and sources that have not been used or have been used insufficiently. The second part of the article publishes previously unpublished sources on the subject or reprints those already published.
