History of the Polish Pastoral on the Bosphorus

Abstract

The subject of this article is the history of pastoral care among Poles on the Golden Horn.  This care consisted mainly of the permanent presence of Polish priests, or of short stays by Polish priests and monks among their compatriots living on the Bosphorus. Another form of religious assistance was the ministry of chaplains who accompanied military formations and pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land and during their stay at the Golden Horn.
