(No) good practice in scientific research (on the Example of two Monographs about the Catholic Clergy in the 1863 Uprising and in Exile in Russia

Abstract

The text is not a classic review, but is a comparative confrontation of two scientific monographs published in 2002 and 2018. They touch on the participation of the
Polish clergy in the January Uprising and their activities in Siberian exile. The works of these two authors refer to similar issues, but one of them shows glaring similarities and borrowings from a book published 16 years earlier. The appropriate reference in this situation seems to be the Code of Ethics of a Researcher, pointing to “good practices” and unreliability in scientific research.
