
In an era of rapid social and technological change, understanding and meeting the needs of speech therapists is crucial to providing effective assistance to people with speech disorders. The article attempts to address these challenges by pointing out the requirement to adapt speech therapy services to rapidly changing social demands. The purpose of this paper is to examine the needs of speech therapists working in the profession in the context of social expectations.
The research reveals that the needs of speech therapists in Poland are not fully met, which affects their ability to meet social expectations. Respondents point to the need for improved working conditions, regulation of professional status, better interdisciplinary cooperation and increased public awareness of the role of speech therapists. According to the survey, speech therapists also feel the lack of support in the availability of diagnostic and therapeutic tools and insufficient opportunities for professional development, which can affect the quality of speech therapy services.
Introducing appropriate changes could improve the satisfaction and effectiveness of speech therapists’ work, as well as increase the public’s satisfaction with the speech therapy assistance provided.
