
The aim of the article is to discuss the most important references to mythology, culture and history in Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher saga, as well as to illustrate the linguistic aspects of the novel appearing in it. The article aims to show, that even popular literature (fantasy) contains many interesting elements that are worth in‑depth analysis. Based on previous research, Witcher novels and computer games, the most important references to the Witcher series were discussed, shortened descriptions of non-human beings were presented, and the language of heroes created by Sapkowski was analyzed as a new linguistic system. The research theses were supported by quotes from individual volumes of the saga and games. The meanings of some linguistic forms from the Older Speech were also deciphered based on available sources. This research shows that the Witcher saga has become a phenomenon in global pop culture for a reason.
