This article presents the history of a kindergarten in Rudnik nad Sanem (Podkarpacie region) run by the Servite Sisters of Dębica. The school was founded in 1932 thanks to the efforts of Antoni Szpila, a teacher at the Rudnik Teachers' Seminary. It was at his request that the Servite Sisters began to work in the boarding school. Later, when the boarding school was closed, they opened a nursery for the children of the kindergarten in the same building. In accordance with the needs of the local community, this initiative was greatly appreciated by the inhabitants of Rudnik.
Despite the difficult financial situation, the kindergarten continued to function throughout the Second World War. Not even the policy of the communist authorities, who were strongly opposed to the teaching of religion in schools, led to its closure. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Ministry of Education and the Health Inspectorate in Nisk took steps to close the kindergarten, which met with fierce resistance not only from the sisters and the church authorities, but also from the parents. Numerous interventions by the Bishop's Curia in Przemyśl, the Parish Office in Rudnik and, above all, the inhabitants of the town with the local and central authorities brought the expected result. From then on, the school was able to function without any major problems.
The consecration and inauguration of the new kindergarten building took place in 1993. In the same year, the Tarnobrzeg Board of Trustees registered the kindergarten as a Polish public school, making it an integral part of the Polish education system.
The article highlights aspects related to the functioning of the kindergarten, such as its legal basis, organisational structure, equipment and living conditions. The next part of the article is dedicated to the teachers and pupils of the kindergarten.
