Author Biography
Graduate of the Papal Theological Academy (now the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow). Head of the Chair of Archival Studies. He runs postgraduate studies in archival and library science, is a member of the Collegium of the Institute of National Remembrance and a member of the Council of the National Programme for the Development of the Humanities. He is the author of 24 books, nearly 33 edited books, and over 200 articles published in Poland and abroad. He has presented at over 200 national and international conferences (in Poland and abroad). His research interests include Cultural Landscape, archival studies, recent history, auxiliary sciences of history the history of religious communities and Christian symbolism. He has written, among others: (co-authored with W. Kolak), Leksykon godeł zakonnych (Lexicon of Religious Emblems), Łódź 1994; Religious in Poland, Kraków 2000; Zakony pod presją bezpieki. Aparat bezpieczeństwa wobec wspólnot wspólnotonnych zakonnych na terenie województwa krakowskiego 1944-1975, Kraków 2009; (co-authored with L. Rotter), Jak czytania wizerunki świętych? Leksykon atrybutów i symboli hagiograficznych, Krakow 2009. Under his editorship (co-editing with L. Rotter) a series of seven books appeared under the common title Symbol - Znak - przesłanie.
