The example of Opole convent is not typical for presenting the model of Domini-can school system in Silesia, or – on a wider scale – in Poland. Already in the Middle Ages the Dominican school in Opole did not offer education on an exceptional level, which is testified by a small number of students in Studium Generale or foreign universities. No well known lectors, let alone professors came from the milieu of the Opole Dominicans. The Convent was always rather small and – additionally – in the modern era it was subject to numerous persecutions and escapes. As hitherto known sources show, the Opole Convent was not a good stepping stone to further academic career. Quite the opposite – it often constituted a venue for a quiet conventual retirement after years of arduous didactic work and preaching.
