Muratyn is a countryside village located in Laszczów gmina (commune), in the northern part of Tomaszów poviat in Lubelskie Province. The first written record about this village dates back to 1430, when Wladyslaw I, the Duke of Belz, granted this estate to Mikolaj Nieborowski, the castellan of Sochaczew. The exact date of commencement of the functioning of St. Nicholas parish in Muratyn is unknown, however, there is no doubt it happened before 1687. It is also known that during the period of functioning of this parish it administratively belonged to Tyszowce Deanery. Having analyzed post-visitation protocols left by bishops of Chelm not only is the look of the wooden parish church recreated along with its fixtures and fittings but also the look of the presbytery and ancillary buildings is outlined. Furthermore, ecclesiastical benefice and its fluctua-tion in the particular period this research paper is focused on is estimated. Not only are the personal details of 5 parochs (parish priests) working in this particular parish estab-lished but also the number of parishioners is estimated.
