On the canonisation of the five martyred brothers

Abstract

The year 2003 marked the millennium of the martyrdom of the eremites of the Five Martyrs. The source's description of the funeral and information about the extraordinary events surrounding the martyrs clearly testify to the cult that was formed immediately after their death. Their martyrdom opened the gates of heaven to the five brothers, and at the same time they began to be venerated as saints in the Church. This article raises the question of how and when they were raised to the altars.
