The article analyzes the communication strategies employed by the Municipal Library in Łódź (BMwŁ) between 2018 and 2020, in the period following the institution’s restructuring. It focuses on the use of plain language as a tool for effective communication and relationship-building with users. The author discusses BMwŁ’s communication strategy, which emphasized inclusivity, the development of public trust, and the dismantling of negative stereotypes about librarians. The analysis of texts and visual materials published through social media channels and the library’s official website demonstrates that plain language – understood not only as a set of simplification techniques but also as an aspect of communication culture – facilitates meaningful audience engagement and helps attract new users. BMwŁ’s communication style was marked by distinctiveness, clarity, self-irony and wit, contributing to increased recognition and public trust in the institution’s brand.
