This article considers the concept of dementia disorders and their typology, human psychophysical development and the epidemiology of dementia disorders in senior patients. It provides a review of diagnostic tools used in neuropsychological diagnosis with particular emphasis on experimental tests, including linguistic ones, as well as issues related to verbal fluency and its typology. Attention is also paid to screening diagnostics and clinical perspectives in the area of early diagnosis of dementia processes. At the end of the article, the author presents a case study from her neuropsychological practice.
