The author reflects upon and portrays the history and sense of the term ‘the new feminism’. It was the Pope who introduced the phrase to the philosophical-theological terminology. He applied it to women and encouraged them to become its promoters. Since John Paul II didn’t explicitly define the meaning of the term, discovering its sense through the contexts in which “the new feminism” appears, has proven necessary. Therefore the article analyses the Pope’s teaching associated with the theology of the body and the theology of marriage and family, as well as his teaching about the contemporary threats concerning particularly human sexuality. The changes associated with the human sexuality, which have not only been proposed, but are also being implemented, affect the fundamental truth about the human as a man and a woman. These changes have consequences for the existence of marriage and family, and for the social life as well. In such a context of civilization transformations, an appeal of the Pope for promoting the new feminism is becoming understandable. The issues connected with this term are topical, therefore, the last part of the article focuses on some cases which should become an object of further research.
