The article was based on research on nine estates in the Sandomierz Voivodeship, owned by the Bishopric of Krakow at the end of the 18th century. These were Bodzentyn, Cisów, Dobrowoda, Iłża, Kielce, Kunów, Mirów, Samsonów and Suchedniów. The annual income from all these estates was estimated at approximately PLN 500,000. PLN, and the cost of running them amounted to PLN 193.5 thousand. (i.e. 38% of revenues). The greatest profits were generated by iron production (PLN 231,000, i.e. 45.3% of revenues). Large furnaces were located on the Samson and Suchedni estates, and the ironworks were located on the Kielce estate. It should be noted that the iron industry required huge capital expenditure and accounted for approximately three-quarters of the total expenditure costs. Some profits were made on the extraction of mineral resources and industry (a glassworks in Porąbki and two paper mills in Mędrowo and Suków). One fifth of the revenues came from the sale of agricultural products. In the Dobrowoda estate, characterized by particularly fertile soil, manor production accounted for over 70% of the income. Over 15% came from the production and sale of alcoholic beverages, mainly vodka and beer. Rents and tributes collected from peasants (7.8%) and townspeople (0.4%) were of little importance, as were tithes, which constituted only 5% of income.
